New Partnership With Royal College of Surgeons Ireland
26 October 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Royal College of Surgeons Ireland - University of Medicine and Health Sciences (RCSI). The three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed within the context of the activities of the Global Surgery Foundation (GSF).
RCSI is an independent, self-financing and not-for-profit medical and health sciences university headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and has been a leader in surgical and medical education in Ireland since its inception in 1784. Through its Institute of Global Surgery, RCSI seeks to address the global surgery crisis. UNITAR is pleased to collaborate with them in the mission for enhanced global surgery and develop innovative capacity-building tools to support the development of improved surgical care systems globally.
Through this MoU, UNITAR, GSF, and RCSI have committed to work towards capacity building in global surgery and the co-development of training and educational materials and programmes in this field. The collaboration also includes National Surgical, Obstetrical and Anaesthesia Plan (NSOAP) monitoring and evaluation, exploring avenues of universal health coverage, and a focus on sustainable development in global surgery.
UNITAR and GSF are pleased to work with RCSI for improved and sustainable development in the field of global surgery and for increased global access to surgical care.
