Our approach

With the lack of access to surgical and anaesthesia care resulting in over 17 million preventable deaths annually, SURGhub equips surgical care workers around the world with lifesaving skills.

The one-stop-shop for surgical training

SURGhub is the first UN-backed training platform specifically for surgical care, combining the world-leading experience of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the GSF’s surgical expertise and network.

Frontline healthcare workers in limited resource settings.

SURGhub offers quality courses in surgery, anaesthesia, gynaecology and obstetrics, perioperative care, and non-clinical skills. Successfull learners earn a downloadable UN certificate of completion signed by UNITAR and the content partner.

Content providers in surgical care.

SURGhub offers a straightforward way to host training courses and allows content providers to benefit from highly valuable features, such as an established user base, a highly user-friendly interface, analytics, and instructional design support.

Designed from the ground up with stand-out features

SURGhub is the only learning platform in surgical care offering the stand-out features outlined below.

Quality assurance

All courses on SURGhub go through a rigorous quality review process and the project is overseen through three committees.

  • The Project Scope Committee is responsible for defining the educational scope of the Hub project - high-level educational aims, target learners and learning objectives.

The Project Scope Committee considers how the Hub and content on the Hub interact with academic qualifications and advises on the conceptual framework underpinning the platform layout.

Furthermore, the Project Scope Committee refines the project scope and reports on project progress towards meeting the educational aims.
