In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Smile Train and the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) are joining efforts to host a special Virtual Roundtable regarding the important impacts the pandemic has on surgical and anaesthesia systems worldwide, entitled:

"Global Anesthesia Priorities in the COVID-19 Era."

This session is scheduled to begin at 10:00am EDT and 04:00 pm CET on Tuesday, September 15.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused drastic changes in surgical and anesthesia systems worldwide. While each region of our world has been affected, each country has their own approach to the pandemic as well as the delivery of essential surgical and anesthesia care during COVID. This is especially true in low- and middle-income countries. As surgical and anesthesia care resume, anesthesiologists will face unique challenges – and they will play a unique role in ensuring safety for patients and providers alike.

Join us and several anaesthesiologists representing perspectives from Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia to discuss global anaesthesia priorities in the COVID-19 era and share experiences from around the world in transitioning through the stages of response to the pandemic.
