New Partnership between Smile Train & UNITAR

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Smile Train signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Smile Train is an organization that strengthens local health systems with cleft lip and palate surgery training. A large degree of children with untreated clefts are often left isolated and have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Cleft treatment is a safe solution to this problem.

UNITAR and Smile Train outlined the objective of supporting safe and quality cleft surgery for children worldwide. This will be completed in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the capacity building objectives of the United Nations Institute of Training and Research.

UNITAR is glad to work with Smile Train on these themes that are so important for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
