WFSA and UNITAR to cooperate on Capacity Building

The United Nations Institute of Training and Research and the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists (WFSA) have signed a partnership agreement.

WFSA is the prominent global alliance of anaesthesiologists, composed of specialist physicians dedicated to the total care of the patient before, during, and after surgery. Its mission is to unite anaesthesiologists to improve patient care and grant access to perioperative medicine. It is headquartered at the Dean Bradley House in London.

UNITAR and WFSA, outlined the objective of working towards the establishment of activities related to capacity building in global surgery and anaesthesia including development of a fellow’s programme. Other activities will cover National Surgical, Obstetrical and Anaesthesia Planning, and raising awareness of Global Surgery within the context of Universal Health Coverage and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Proper training for global health professionals needs to be empowered to reach UN Sustainable Development Goal #3: Good Health and Well-Being. Out of this mission, UNITAR is glad to work with WFSA.
